| A Season of Renewal and Celebration Dear Friends, We are still feeling the momentum from this month’s Spring Soirée, a night that brought together friends, supporters, and mission-minded generosity.
We were thrilled to recognize Dr. David Price as the 2025 First Citizens UNC Health Pardee Physician of the Year and Marilyn Gordon as our Philanthropist of the Year. If you missed their stories you can read them here and here.
These are more than annual honors—they serve as powerful reminders of the compassion, excellence, and commitment that strengthen our hospital and inspire our community. If you were unable to attend, be sure to read their stories below, along with an update on the fundraising success of the evening.
In this issue, you will also find a photo gallery of the evening as well as a moving video tribute developed by the Foundation that captures the incredible response of Pardee teammates during and after Hurricane Helene and the donors who supported them. |

A Victory Bell Rings at Pardee: A New Tradition of Hope and Healing
A new symbol of strength and survivorship now stands at the heart of UNC Health Pardee Cancer Center: a Victory Bell, unveiled during a recent dedication ceremony. Installed through a collaborative effort between Pardee Hospital Foundation and The Eagles of Henderson County, the bell offers patients a powerful moment of triumph—the chance to ring out their final treatment and signal the start of a new chapter.
For those still in the fight, the sound of the bell serves as a beacon of hope and determination. For those who ring it, it marks resilience, healing, and hard-won victory. The bell and its accompanying plaque, inscribed with a poem written by the physician who began this tradition, honor not only cancer survivors but also the deeply personal legacy of military leadership and service shared by the Eagles.
