The Trucking Cares Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to the Pardee Hospital Foundation, marking the largest single contribution ever made by the charitable arm of the trucking industry.
This record-breaking gift will directly aid UNC Health Pardee employees and the community in recovering from the widespread devastation caused by Tropical Storm Helene.
The grant will provide essential assistance to Pardee teammates, many of whom are still grappling with the cost of housing repairs, mold remediation, and tree removal. Despite their personal losses, these dedicated healthcare professionals have remained steadfast in caring for their community.
“In the wake of this catastrophe, we have seen countless examples of neighbors stepping up to help,” said Greg Owen, chairman of the Trucking Cares Foundation. “The skilled and compassionate medical staff at UNC Health Pardee have been a lifeline for residents in the region both before and after this historic storm.
As the trucking industry works to get western North Carolina back on its feet by delivering the materials required for recovery, we hope that this donation will support Pardee staff’s ongoing efforts to address the vital healthcare needs of the local population.” Just how did the Trucking Cares Foundation Find out about Pardee Hospital Foundation? Together, We Made a Difference on #GivingTuesday |
|
|
Thanks to our incredible Pardee teammates, #GivingTuesday2024 was a triumph for our nonprofit community hospital! For those unfamiliar, Giving Tuesday is the unofficial holiday when many people donate to charities.
The initiative began twelve years ago in response to the consumer-driven focus of Black Friday and Cyber Monday with a simple idea: to inspire people to give back to their communities and support causes they care about.
This year at UNC Health Pardee, our passionate colleagues from across the organization stood with us on Dec.3rd in supporting the heart of our community through our Sharing & Caring Teammate Giving Society. By joining this employee giving program, their generosity and philanthropic support helps fuel critical initiatives, from advancing patient care to fostering programs that uplift those in need.
Over sixty Pardee teammates have elected to support Sharing & Caring in our inaugural year because they know that every contribution, regardless of the amount, creates ripples of compassion that directly impact our patients, their families, and our neighbors.
In recognition of their collective generosity, Pardee Hospital Foundation sponsored a free holiday movie night earlier this month, which was hosted by our fantastic business partners at Flat Rock Cinema. Many thanks to Bryan and his team for surprising our guests with a sneak preview of“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”
To all our Pardee teammates - thank you wholeheartedly for your kindness and commitment to our shared mission! Together, we ensure our community thrives.

North Carolina Healthcare Foundation Supports Pardee Teammates |
|
|
UNC Health Pardee teammates impacted by Hurricane Helene received much-needed support thanks to the incredible generosity of the North Carolina Healthcare Foundation (NCHF).
Through the NCHF Disaster Relief Fund, 82 Pardee teammates received funding and support totaling over $40,000 in aid. Pardee Hospital Foundation was honored to facilitate the distribution of these funds to our healthcare heroes, whose dedication continues to inspire all of us.
A huge thank-you to NCHF for stepping up to support those who care for our community. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference for our team, and we are proud to recognize your impact!

Together, We Can Close the Year with Hope and Healing |
|
|
Thanks to your incredible generosity, the Pardee Hospital Foundation has already seen a heartening response to our year-end appeal. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support, which has helped us make meaningful strides in our mission this year. Yet, the need remains great, and there is still time to make an impact before the year ends.
In 2024, the Foundation delivered more than $1.5 million in essential support to UNC Health Pardee’s programs, team members, and services. This is a testament to the power of community coming together to care for one another.
However, this year also brought unforeseen challenges. When Tropical Storm Helene swept through our community, it caused widespread devastation, including among our healthcare workers—some losing their homes. The Foundation quickly mobilized to provide immediate relief, ensuring our care teams could remain focused on saving lives.
This emergency response, while crucial, required us to pause our fundraising efforts for other key initiatives. As a result, we are short of our year-end goals and funds are urgently needed to continue advancing our mission.
Because of you, we’ve already achieved incredible milestones this year: - Inpatient Dialysis services that save lives
- Panda Warmers providing comfort and safety for newborns
- Women Helping Women programs supporting health and healing
-
Mobile Mammo on the Go, bringing life-saving screenings to those in need
- Circle of Caring, fostering growth and opportunities for hospital employees
We are deeply grateful for the response so far and invite you to join us in closing this gap. A year-end gift of $50, $100, or whatever feels meaningful to you will make a profound difference. Your compassion empowers our community to heal, grow, and thrive together.
Let’s finish the year united in care and hope. Thank you for being a part of this mission. |

Cheryl Stuller and Stuller Power Solutions: Empowering Women Through Generosity |
|
|
Cheryl Stuller’s journey in health care began in high school when she joined Health Occupations Services of America (HOSA). Learning CPR, first aid, and patient care ignited a lifelong commitment to health and well-being. Now, as co-founder of Stuller Power Solutions, Cheryl brings that same spirit of care and community support to Pardee Hospital Foundation’s Women Helping Women (WHW) Initiative.
“For me, WHW is all about helping women in their journey through cancer, particularly breast cancer,” Cheryl explains. “I’ve lost women I love to breast cancer. If Stuller Power and I can help in any small way, I am there 100 percent.”
Stuller Power Solutions, a family-owned business based in Western North Carolina, has proudly supported Women Helping Women because it aligns with the company’s core values: care, communication, and respect. Cheryl emphasizes that the emotional impact of Women Helping Women resonates deeply with her. “Experiencing compassion, strong women, a sense of mutual respect and purpose, and always the inspirational speakers—I and others leave feeling emotionally stronger and inspired to take action.”
Founded in 2000, Stuller Power Solutions specializes in the sale, installation, and maintenance of whole-house generators. The company has grown to include 17 employees and remains a family affair, with three of Cheryl’s four children and her grandson involved in the business. “As we’ve grown and found our professional footing, we’ve sought to volunteer and sponsor organizations that we connect with,” she says. Stuller Power Solutions serves Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina, offering a full suite of services for Generac generators and in-house propane tanks and gas installation. Their commitment to excellence is matched only by their dedication to community engagement. “It’s the people that make an organization, and that’s true for a hospital, a business, or a foundation like Pardee,” Cheryl shares.
The Women Helping Women initiative holds a special place in Cheryl’s heart because of its mission to ensure that all women in the community, regardless of financial circumstances, have access to life-saving diagnostic testing and treatment for cancer. “The staff, volunteers, and support teams at Pardee live and work by a philosophy of care and compassion, and we are proud to stand with them,” she adds. |
