Transforming our Vision to Reality

Pardee UNC Health Care is “on the move” by recruiting more providers, expanding existing departments and initiating new departments and programs as we lead the transformation of healthcare in our communities with the best people providing the best care. Realizing our vision would not be possible without the continued support of our many donors.

The Cancer Center, where our loved ones, friends and colleagues are being treated and cured daily by the amazing staff and doctors like Dr. James Radford, voted one of the best doctors in North Carolina in 2018. Pardee’s Cancer Center continues to receive support from grateful patients and their families. Karli Simon was so inspired by the treatment her mother received that she raised over $1,000 selling homemade soaps to help others get the same care. Other grateful patients have shown their support with over $80,000 raised this year. Only one room remains as a naming opportunity.

Please join Karli and others who support our Cancer program by giving $5,000 or more.

With the Cancer Center leading the way in cancer treatment, Pardee has new areas where it will bring the same advanced care, specifically Cardiac Care and Orthopedics. Our Cardiac Care department, launched two years ago under the direction of Dr. Eduardo Balcells, has already performed 100 successful procedures, changing the lives of his patients. Many opportunities exist for supporting the Cardiac Care department, from general support to funding necessary equipment, like a portable Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, which relieves the strain from an ailing heart, or a Trans-Esophageal ECHO Probe Cleaner, specifically designed to clean the extremely sensitive probes which record images of a heart in action. Donors have given $50,000 this year to support this life-saving department.

With a goal of $200,000, your gift of $5,000 or more could help the next heart attack victim.

The Orthopedics department is one of the largest at Pardee, with a well deserved reputation for excellence. The department is initiating a new clinic – the Fragility Fracture Clinic with Dr. Keith Maxwell as a driving force- to treat and reduce fragility fractures in our communities. The clinic will offer a program developed by the American Orthopedic Association, called “Own The Bone” a national post-fracture, systems-based, multidisciplinary initiative. The clinic will coordinate a new approach to treating identified fragility fractures with a focus on appropriate surgery interventions which could shorten the length of hospital stay, lessen the need for opioid medications and reduce overall health costs. Fragile fractures are a silent epidemic in our town.

Your gift of $5,000 or more could support the clinic to fight this debilitating scourge.

We would be honored to visit you to discuss your interest in supporting these areas, or others, in the hospital.
