2007 Women Helping Women

Raising awareness of breast cancer prevention and treatment,
and focusing on ways to improve women's health in our community."
Pa rdee Foundation celebrates a decade of Women Helping Women
Pardee Foundation’s Women Helping Women Committee events celebrated 10 years of fundraising for breast cancer on October 18th and 19th. Through the generous support of over 100 sponsors, ticket purchasers, and donations, the Foundation’s Women Helping Women committee, made up of over 30 dedicated volunteers, raised over $154,000 this year. The monies raised by the annual Women Helping Women events go into an ongoing fund that provides financial assistance for patients who are uninsured or underinsured. Approved patients receive screening mammograms and breast cancer procedures at Pardee Hospital. Emory Austin, the speaker at the first Women Helping Women luncheon in 1998 and a 27-year breast cancer survivor, returned as the speaker for both events to help celebrate “A Decade of Hope”.
Over the past 10 years, Pardee Foundation has raised over $660,000 to assist women with breast treatment – and $394,000 for digital mammography equipment and renovations to the breast center ---over $1 million all totaled! Over 800 women have received life-saving screenings and treatments. One of the recipients of financial support said, “I didn’t know what I would have done. I couldn’t have asked for anything better to happen than that”, when she was told that she would not have to worry about her treatment costs.
