“I owe my life to the concern and care of Pardee Hospital and the associated doctors too numerous to list. I count it a privilege and an honor to be a member of the Pardee Hospital Foundation Board.”

Board member Dr. Kohlan Flynn has already made a great impression as one of the newest Foundation board members. But…he’s not new to Pardee Hospital, having been treated for a variety of issues since the 1980’s including double knee replacement in 1991. Kohlan is eager and willing to talk about his positive experiences as a patient, and those with whom he shares his stories soon understand why he is one of Pardee’s “biggest fans!”

It’s no surprise to those who’ve known Kohlan that he is an active board member who lends his vast history in the educational field to the Foundation. From the first graduating class at West Henderson High School, Dr. Flynn went on to earn a B.S. degree in Education from Western Carolina College. He followed that with a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Administration and earned the first Audio Visual Director’s Certificate issued at Western Carolina. He holds an Education Specialist degree from WCU and a Doctoral Degree in Administration from the University of Georgia.

Kohlan retired in 2004 after a 38 year career in education as a teacher, audio visual consultant for the South Carolina Department of Education, principal at Walhalla High School in S.C. and at his alma mater West Hendersonville H.S. He served as Secondary Supervisor and Assistant Superintendent for Henderson County Schools. Dr. Flynn has taught at Western Carolina College, the University of South Carolina and at Mars Hill University.

On a personal note, Kohlan has been married to wife Linda for 51 years and they have two daughters, Jennifer Zarins and Lindy Rose and twin 8-year old grandchildren Addison and Caden.

“Pardee Hospital is really a community hospital and deserves our personal and financial support.”
